Surprise!!! A Baby Shower!

My friends are the best!  While we were away in DC for the day, my 2 neighbors were busy preparing fora surprise baby shower!  I had no idea.  I thought we were going swimming at my neighbor's house when we got home from DC.  I went over in my swimsuit and found that they had planned a shower for me instead.  I was so elated because I wasn't expecting one since I don't know that many people here yet.  Anyways, I was beside myself and had the best time.  Thanks everyone!

Table set for 8...Marge was quite the cook!
Cute cupcakes by Hillary...
Hillary made some awesome strawberries, too!

Fun things for Hannah!
The first time my feet and ankles were swollen....I know, I know, you can't tell, but believe me, they are different!

One happy surprised mama! Yes, they let me go home and change out of my bathing suit :)
All who made it possible:

The next day, Margi took us on a tour of her grocery store...and I bought this...

That night, we went to Carrabba's to eat dinner....
Did I mention it was my birthday?  I thought this picture was funny.  If you know me, you know what I'm talking about :)

I had a great weekend and thank my girlfriends for celebrating my birthday and Hannah with me!!!

Girl's Weekend

What started out as a weekend that Clay planned to go to Texas with his buddies ended up being a girl's weekend for me!  I was telling my best Ohio friends, Libby and Angi,  that I was worried that Clay was leaving me alone to take care of Carter while I was 35 weeks pregnant.  They nonchalantly said it would be fun if they could come in during that weekend so I wouldn't have to be alone.  Well, a few weeks ago, they called and said they made the suggestion a reality...they bought plane tickets to DC! Then, at the last minute, my best Tennessee friend was able to surprise me and come.  And to top it off, it was my birthday weekend.  Pure awesomeness!  Below are some pictures of our fun...

My favorite Mexican restaurant near our house is Guapo's.  These are my favorite menu items.
On the metro to DC to sightsee

The girls at Union Station catching our Red Bus tour bus
The double decker bus...it was 75 degrees, what a perfect day for it!

Nothing like a Godiva covered strawberry atop a red bus....yummmmmmmm!

Not as pretty as usual without the water.  I guess everyone was thirsty.

We spotted a crazy doing yoga in the park

And the day just begun for me!  I will leave that to the next post...

Carter's Texas Visit

Last weekend, Clay, Carter and I each had our own fun weekend.  Clay went to Texas to have a guys weekend with old buddies.  I had my girlfriends fly in and we had our own fun weekend.  Where does this leave Carter?  He got to spend the weekend with Mia at Casa de Hump!  She provided pictures and dialogue to give us a glimpse into carter's fun weekend!

Last Farm Visit

Tonight we made a family trip to the farm to pick up our milk.  We made a hard decision to quit purchasing from this farm due to the rising gas prices.  We had to travel 50 minutes (no traffic) one way once a week.  In my car, that totaled 2.5 gallons of gas which is now over $10.  Add that to the price of milk and you can see that is expensive milk!!!  The farm had other things as well such as cheap eggs, a selection of grass-fed meats, other milk products, etc.  It was really fun to go at first, but the drive became burdensome and expensive.  Thankfully, we found a local drop-off for another farm for milk and these other products just 15 minutes from our house. We begin that next week.

At the farm pictured below, the family would let you go see the animals anytime you wanted.  We thought Carter might enjoy this.

Here he goes running over to the animals...
The cow has Carter's arm in his mouth!
Walking down to see the ducks...
Daddy showing Carter the bunny rabbits...
Seriously, the ugliest chicken we've ever seen. There was something seriously wrong with it. Clay and I thought it was going to attack us!  Look at the feet on this thing!
 He loves the shoulder rides!
On the ride home catching up on baby news :)
