Texas Adventure: part 1

The time had come to go to the airport to commence our journey to Texas. I am calling it a journey because that's what it is when you have 2 children under 3, you are flying on "space available" passes, and there is no direct route on the airline you have the free passes for. So instead of driving 15 minutes to the airport down the road to hop on a 3 hour direct flight to Dallas, we drove an hour and 15 minutes to Baltimore to catch a flight to Houston which then took off for Dallas.  Total air travel time for that was 4.5 hours. Also, after we arrived to Dallas, we had to drive another 1.5 hours to reach the final destination.  Was it worth it?  YES! Total travel time for the day was 11 hours, but that beats driving 20+ hours! The kids did surprisingly well and there was only one "melt down" by Carter towards the end of the trip.  He was probably a little upset he couldn't fall asleep! More to come soon!

Ohio parents come to visit

We just returned from a trip to Texas a few days ago.  I just downloaded the pictures from the trip and was getting ready to blog about it when I discovered I didn't post about my parents' visit last month.  Since I like to do things in order, I must post about this first!

It was a quick trip and it happened last minute. We didn't know if dad would be able to make the trip, but he did! They came on a Thursday and left on Sunday. Of course, we didn't want dad to be bored, so we offered him some projects that have been neglected :) We finally got all the casing and baseboard installed on the lower level. It only took 2 years! HA! The help was MUCH appreciated! We also had some yummy food prepared by moi and we also went to our favorite mexican restaurant, Guapos.  All Carter wanted to do is eat CHIPS CHIPS CHIPS!!! I wish I had pictures of that to share, but I will capture them another time...and there will be another time!

 It's the weekend and we're hanging out. What better place to sit than on daddy's lap? As you can see, Miss Hannah is thoroughly excited, as she always is. Mr. Carter is contemplative, as he always is. He did decide to share his love with a big hug and Miss H was very accepting. Yep, they are cute!
